Structure. What a horrible word to anyone fresh out of rehab. Yet, a daily plan helps create a sense of mental harmony and integrity.
WHAT'S IN A DAY? PRACTICING A NEW MINDFUL LIFE UNTIL IT'S PART OF US
Structure provides a sense of predictability and familiarity - a reassuring way of helping life to make sense. In early recovery, a sense of order is comforting because it eliminates decision making. Residents help plan their schedule which allows for creativity, laughter and learning. We can seamlessly go on from a 12-step meeting to an in-workshop to riding to yoga.
Phase One includes 12-step meetings, social outings, daily exercise, educational in-house workshops, spiritual empowerment, therapy four to five days per week, house responsibilities, creative endeavors, journal time and meditation.
In Phase Two, residents begin to plan their program to fit their needs. A resident will meet every week with her coach to discuss her schedule of meetings, exercise, work, chores, medical appointments, therapy times, and spiritual empowerment.
